56ers' Melin makes WPSL honor team PDF Print E-mail

Madison 56ers WPSLFor the second straight week, a Madison 56ers player was named to the Women's Premier Soccer League Team of the Week.

Iowa midfielder Alex Melin (Verona) earned the honor this week after her performance in the team's 3-2 victory over Eclipse Select last Thursday in Oak Brook, Ill.

Melin scored the 56ers' first goal, her second of the season, and "controlled the midfield" for Madison, according to the news release.

The 56ers, who are 2-0-0 in the Midwest Conference North Division, play the Chicago Red Stars at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Breese Stevens Field. That will be Melin's last match with the team for a few weeks, as she heads to Europe with a U.S. Youth Soccer Under-19 Select team.
